Ruling on Tattooing in Islam

Ruling on Tattooing in Islam

Tattooing, in which the skin is pierced with a needle and a blue or other coloured dye is injected, is haraam in all forms, whether it causes pain or not, because it involves changing the creation of Allah, and because the Prophet (pbuh) cursed the one who does tattoos and the one for whom that is done. In al-Saheehayn it is narrated that ‘Abd-Allah ibn Mas’ood (R.A) said: “May Allah curse the women who do tattoos and those for whom tattoos are done, those who pluck their eyebrows and those who file their teeth for the purpose of beautification and alter the creation of Allah.” (al-Bukhaari, al-Libaas, 5587; Muslim, al-Libaas, 5538)
Narrated Abu Huraira (R.A):
Allah’s Apostle (pbuh) said, “The evil eye is a fact,” and he forbade tattooing. Volume 7, Book 72, Number 827: Sahih Bukhari
Narrated Ibn ‘Umar (R.A) :
The Prophet (pbuh) has cursed the lady who lengthens her hair artificially and the one who gets her hair lengthened, and also the lady who tattoos (herself or others) and the one who gets herself tattooed. Volume 7, Book 72, Number 823: Sahih Bukhari
Narrated Ibn ‘Umar (R.A) :
I heard the Prophet (pbuh) saying, (or the Prophet said), “Allah has cursed the lady who practices tattooing and that who gets it done for herself, and also the lady who lengthens hair artificially and that who gets her hair lengthened artificially.” The Prophet has cursed such ladies. Volume 7, Book 72, Number 825: Sahih Bukhari
With regard to all these matters, the ahaadeeth testify that the one who does them is cursed and that they are major sins. There is some difference of scholarly opinion as to the reason why they are forbidden. It was said that it is because they are a form of deception, and it was said that it is because it is a way of changing the creation of Allah, as Ibn Mas’ood (R.A) said – which is more correct and also includes the first meaning. And it was suggested that what is forbidden is only that which is permanent, because that is changing the creation of Allah; as for that which is not permanent, such as kohl which used for adornment by women, that is permitted by the scholars. (Tafseer al-Qurtubi, 5/393).

Wearing Wigs and Hair Extensions In Islam

Wearing Wigs and Hair Extensions In Islam

The use of wigs started among non-Muslim women, who were so well known for wearing them and adorning themselves with them that this became one of their distinguishing features. If a woman wears a wig and adorns herself with it, even if she does this for her husband, she is imitating the kaafir women, which the Prophet (pbuh) forbade:
It was narrated that ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Umar said: The Prophet (pbuh) said: “Whoever imitates a people is one of them.” Narrated by Abu Dawood, 3512; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Irwa’ al-Ghaleel, 2691
Wigs also come under the ruling about hair extensions, which is even more vehement in its prohibition as the Prophet (pbuh) forbade this practice and cursed the one who does it.
Women are forbidden to add extensions to their hair, whether they are made of hair or anything else, if they could be mistaken for hair, because of the reports that have been narrated concerning that.
Narrated ‘Aisha (R.A):
An Ansari girl was married and she became sick and all her hair fell out intending to provide her with false hair. They asked the Prophet(pbuh) who said, “Allah has cursed the lady who artificially lengthens (her or someone else’s) hair and also the one who gets her hair lengthened.” Volume 7, Book 72, Number 817: Sahih Bukhari
Narrated ‘Aisha (R.A):
An Ansari woman gave her daughter in marriage and the hair of the latter started falling out. The Ansari women came to the Prophet (pbuh) and mentioned that to him and said, “Her (my daughter’s) husband suggested that I should let her wear false hair.” The Prophet (pbuh) said, “No, (don’t do that) for Allah sends His curses upon such ladies who lengthen their hair artificially.” Volume 7, Book 62, Number 133: Sahih Bukhari
Narrated Abdullah bin Mus’ud (R.A):
Allah’s Apostle (pbuh) has cursed the lady who uses false hair. Volume 6, Book 60, Number 409: Sahih Bukhari
Narrated Asma (the daughter of Abu Bakr) (R.A): Allah’s Apostle (pbuh) has cursed such a lady as artificially lengthening (her or someone else’s) hair or gets her hair lengthened.Volume 7, Book 72, Number 819:Sahih Bukhari
Narrated Sa’id bin Al-Musaiyab (R.A):
Mu’awiya (R.A) came to Medina for the last time and delivered a sermon. He took out a tuft of hair and said, “I thought that none used to do this (i.e. use false hair) except Jews. The Prophet (pbuh) labelled such practice, (i.e. the use of false hair), as cheating. Volume 7, Book 72, Number 821: Sahih Bukhari

Concept of Paradise in Islam

Concept of Paradise in Islam

Some Quranic verses and Hadiths about Paradise.
Narrated ‘Abdullah (R.A):
Allah’s Apostle (pbuh) said, “The person who will be the last one to enter Paradise and the last to come out of Hell (Fire) will be a man who will come out crawling, and his Lord will say to him, ‘Enter Paradise.’ He will reply, ‘O Lord, Paradise is full.’ Allah will give him the same order thrice, and each time the man will give Him the same reply, i.e., ‘Paradise is full.’ Thereupon Allah will say (to him), ‘Ten times of the world is for you.” Volume 9, Book 93, Number 602: Sahih Bukhari.
And give glad tidings to those who believe and do righteous good deeds, that for them will be Gardens under which rivers flow (Paradise). Every time they will be provided with a fruit therefrom, they will say: “This is what we were provided with before,” and they will be given things in resemblance (i.e. in the same form but different in taste) and they shall have therein Azwâjun Mutahharatun (purified mates or wives), (having no menses, stools, urine, etc.) and they will abide therein forever. [002:025 Al Quran]
But, for those who fear their Lord, are Gardens under which rivers flow (in Paradise); therein are they to dwell (for ever), an entertainment from Allah; and that which is with Allah is the Best for AlAbrâr (those who are obedient to Allah and follow strictly His Orders). [003:198:Al Quran]
The description of Paradise which the Muttaqun have been promised is that in it are rivers of water the taste and smell of which are not changed; rivers of milk of which the taste never changes; rivers of wine delicious to those who drink; and rivers of clarified honey (clear and pure) therein for them is every kind of fruit; and forgiveness from their Lord. …. [047:015:Al Quran]
But for him who [the true believer of Islamic Monotheism who performs all the duties ordained by Allah and His Messenger Muhammad, and keeps away (abstain) from all kinds of sin and evil deeds prohibited in Islam and fears the standing before his Lord, there will be two Gardens (i.e. in Paradise). [055:046:Al Quran]
With spreading branches; [055:048:Al Quran]
In them (both) will be two springs flowing (free) [055:050:Al Quran]
In them (both) will be every kind of fruit in pairs. [055:052:Al Quran]
Reclining upon the couches lined with silk brocade, and the fruits of the two Gardens will be near at hand. [055:054:Al Quran]
Wherein both will be those (maidens) restraining their glances upon their husbands, whom no man or jinn yatmithhunna (has opened their hymens with sexual intercourse) before them. [055:056:Al Quran]
(In beauty) they are like rubies and coral. [055:058:Al Quran]
Is there any reward for good other than good? [055:060:Al Quran]
And besides these two, there are two other Gardens (i.e. in Paradise). [055:062:Al Quran]
Dark green (in colour). [055:064 Al Quran]
In them (both) will be two springs gushing forth water. [055:066:Al Quran]
In them (both) will be fruits, and date- palms and pomegranates. [055:068:Al Quran]
Therein (gardens) will be fair (wives) good and beautiful; [055:070:Al Quran]
Houris (beautiful, fair females) restrained in pavilions; [055:072:Al Quran]
Whom no man or jinn yatmithhunna (has opened their hymens with sexual intercourse) before them. [055:074:Al Quran]
Reclining on green cushions and rich beautiful mattresses. [055:076:Al Quran]
Narrated ‘Abdullah bin Qais (R.A):
The Prophet (pbuh) said, “(There will be) two Paradises of silver and all the utensils and whatever is therein (will be of silver); and two Paradises of gold, and its utensils and whatever therein (will be of gold), and there will be nothing to prevent the people from seeing their Lord except the Cover of Majesty over His Face in the Paradise of Eden (eternal bliss).” Volume 9, Book 93, Number 536: Sahih Bukhari.
Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? [055:077:Al Quran]
Blessed be the Name of your Lord (Allâh), the Owner of Majesty and Honour.[055:078:Al Quran]

Slavery in Islam

Slavery in Islam

Allah the all Mighty says in the Holy Quran that all human being are equal and the most honourable is he who has Taqwa [ [Piety) i.e. one of the Muttaqûn (pious )].
Allah The all Mighty said , O mankind! We have created you from a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that you may know one another. Verily, the most honourable of you with Allâh is that (believer) who has At-Taqwa [i.e. one of the Muttaqûn (pious)]. Verily, Allâh is All-Knowing, All-Aware. ( 49:13,Quran)
It is not Al-Birr (piety, righteousness, and each and every act of obedience to Allâh, etc.) that you turn your faces towards east and (or) west (in prayers); but Al-Birr is (the quality of) the one who believes in Allâh, the Last Day, the Angels, the Book, the Prophets and gives his wealth, in spite of love for it, to the kinsfolk, to the orphans, and to Al-Masâkin (the poor), and to the wayfarer, and to those who ask, and to set slaves free, performs As-Salât (Iqâmat-as-Salât), and gives the Zakât, and who fulfill their covenant when they make it, and who are As-Sâbirin (the patient ones, etc.) in extreme poverty and ailment (disease) and at the time of fighting (during the battles). Such are the people of the truth and they are Al Muttaqûn (pious )[002:177,Quran]
In Islam the rights of slaves are great. There are alot of Hadiths about how to treat them. Whosoever doesn’t treat his slave in the manner prescribed by the Holy Prophet (pbuh) will be in great loss at the Day of Judgement and whosoever will follow all the teachings regarding slaves will get a great reward.
Narrated Abu Huraira(R.A):
The Prophet (peace be upon him)said, “Whoever frees a Muslim slave, Allah will save all the parts of his body from the (Hell) Fire as he has freed the body-parts of the slave.” Said bin Marjana said that he narrated that Hadith to ‘Ali bin Al-Husain and he freed his slave for whom ‘Abdullah bin Ja’far had offered him ten thousand Dirhams or one-thousand Dinars.
Volume 3, Book 46, Number 693: Sahih Bukhari
Narrated Abu Dhar(R.A):
I asked the Prophet(pbuh), “What is the best deed?” He replied, “To believe in Allah and to fight for His Cause.” I then asked, “What is the best kind of manumission (of slaves)?” He replied, “The manumission of the most expensive slave and the most beloved by his master.” I said, “If I cannot afford to do that?” He said, “Help the weak or do good for a person who cannot work for himself.” I said, “If I cannot do that?” He said, “Refrain from harming others for this will be regarded as a charitable deed for your own good.
Volume 3, Book 46, Number 694: Sahih Bukhari
Narrated Abu Musa Al-Ashari(R.A):
The Prophet (pbuh) said, “He who has a slave-girl and teaches her good manners and improves her education and then manumits and marries her, will get a double reward; and any slave who observes Allah’s right and his master’s right will get a double reward.”
Volume 3, Book 46, Number 723: Sahih Bukhari
Narrated Al-Ma’rur(R.A):
At Ar-Rabadha I met Abu Dhar who was wearing a cloak, and his slave, too, was wearing a similar one. I asked about the reason for it. He replied, “I abused a person by calling his mother with bad names.” The Prophet(pbuh) said to me, ‘O Abu Dhar! Did you abuse him by calling his mother with bad names You still have some characteristics of ignorance. Your slaves are your brothers and Allah has put them under your command. So whoever has a brother under his command should feed him of what he eats and dress him of what he wears. Do not ask them (slaves) to do things beyond their capacity (power) and if you do so, then help them.’(Sahih Bukhari, Belief, Volume 1, Book 2, Number 29)”
Abu Huraira (R.A)reported:
Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: “When the slave of anyone amongst you prepares food for him and he serves him after having sat close to (and undergoing the hardship of) heat and smoke, he should make him (the slave) sit along with him and make him eat (along with him), and if the food seems to run short, then he should spare some portion for him (from his own share) – (Sahih Muslim,The Book of Oaths (Kitab Al-Aiman), Book 015, Number 4096)”
Abu Mas’ud al-Badri (R.A) reported:
“I was beating my slave with a whip when I heard a voice behind me: Understand, Abu Masud; but I did not recognise the voice due to intense anger. He (Abu Mas’ud) reported: As he came near me (I found) that he was the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) and he was saying: Bear in mind, Abu Mas’ud; bear in mind. Abu Mas’ud. He (Aba Maslad) said: threw the whip from my hand. Thereupon he (the Holy Prophet) said: Bear in mind, Abu Mas’ud; verily Allah has more dominance upon you than you have upon your slave. I (then) said: I would never beat my servant in future. (Sahih Muslim, The Book of Oaths (Kitab Al-Aiman), Book 015, Number 4086)”

Alcohol in Islam

Alcohol in Islam

Allah the all mighty forbade all those things which are harmful for humans. In islam its forbidden to drink alcoholic beverages.
These days drinking alcohol is very common, people who drink, forget that thay are playing with their lives as alcohol is very dangerous and cause alot of problems.
Alcohol consumption has been linked with seven types of cancer: mouth cancer, pharyngeal cancer, oesophageal cancer, laryngeal cancer, breast cancer, bowel cancer and liver cancer. Heavy drinkers are more likely to develop liver cancer due to cirrhosis of the liver.
The risk of developing cancer increases even with consumption of as little as three units of alcohol (one pint of lager or a large glass of wine) a day.
A global study found that 3.6% of all cancer cases worldwide are caused by drinking alcohol, resulting in 3.5% of all global cancer deaths. A study in the United Kingdom found that alcohol causes about 6% of cancer deaths in the UK (9,000 deaths per year). A study in China found that alcohol causes about 4.40% of all cancer deaths and 3.63% of all cancer incidences. For both men and women, the consumption of two or more drinks daily increases the risk of pancreatic cancer by 22%.
Women who regularly consume low to moderate amounts of alcohol have an increased risk of cancer of the upper digestive tract, rectum, liver, and breast.
A report of the United States Centers for Disease Control estimated that medium and high consumption of alcohol led to 75,754 deaths in the U.S. in 2001.
In the United Kingdom, heavy drinking is blamed for about 33,000 deaths a year.
Allah all mighty said in Quran:
They ask you (O Muhammad SAW) concerning alcoholic drink and gambling. Say: “In them is a great sin, and (some) benefit for men, but the sin of them is greater than their benefit.” And they ask you what they ought to spend. Say: “That which is beyond your needs.” Thus Allah makes clear to you His Laws in order that you may give thought.” [ al Quran:002:219]
“O you who believe! Intoxicants (all kinds of alcoholic drinks), gambling, AlAnsab, and AlAzlam (arrows for seeking luck or decision) are an abomination of Shaitans (Satan) handiwork. So avoid (strictly all) that (abomination) in order that you may be successful”. [al Quran:005:090]
“Shaitan (Satan) wants only to excite enmity and hatred between you with intoxicants (alcoholic drinks) and gambling, and hinder you from the remembrance of Allah and from As-Salat (the prayer). So, will you not then abstain?” [al Quran:005:091]
Narrated Ibn ‘Umar (R.A):
Allah’s Apostle (pbuh) said, “Whoever drinks alcoholic drinks in the world and does not repent (before dying), will be deprived of it in the Hereafter.” Volume 7, Book 69, Number 481: Sahih Bukhari
Narrated Ibn ‘Umar (R.A):
“Alcoholic drinks were prohibited (by Allah) when there was nothing of it (special kind of wine) in Medina. Volume 7, Book 69, Number 485:Sahih Bukhari
Narrated Anas(R.A):
“Alcoholic drinks were prohibited at the time we could rarely find wine made from grape.Volume 7, Book 69, Number 486:Sahih Bukhari
Narrated Abu Huraira(R.A):
Allah’s Apostle (pbuh) said, “When an adulterer commits illegal sexual intercourse, then he is not a believer at the time he is doing it; and when somebody drinks an alcoholic drink, then he is not believer at the time of drinking, and when a thief steals, he is not a believer at the time when he is stealing; and when a robber robs and the people look at him, then he is not a believer at the time of doing it.” Abu Huraira in another narration, narrated the same from the Prophet with the exclusion of robbery. Volume 8, Book 81, Number 763: Sahih Bukhari
Narrated ‘Umar bin Al-Khattab(R.A):
During the lifetime of the Prophet (pbuh) there was a man called ‘Abdullah whose nickname was Donkey, and he used to make Allah’s Apostle laugh. The Prophet lashed him because of drinking (alcohol). And one-day he was brought to the Prophet on the same charge and was lashed. On that, a man among the people said, “O Allah, curse him ! How frequently he has been brought (to the Prophet on such a charge)!” The Prophet said, “Do not curse him, for by Allah, I know for he loves Allah and His Apostle.”
Volume 8, Book 81, Number 771: Sahih Bukhari
Narrated Ibn ‘Umar(R.A):
‘Umar stood up on the pulpit and said, “Now then, prohibition of alcoholic drinks have been revealed, and these drinks are prepared from five things, i.e.. grapes, dates, honey, wheat or barley And an alcoholic drink is that, that disturbs the mind.
Volume 7, Book 69, Number 487: Sahih Bukhari

Islamic Dress code for men

Islamic Dress code for men
The Islam instructs both Muslim men and women to dress in a modest way. Some people may do a double take when they learn that Muslim men have a dress code as well. Some men take their dress code lightly. Some think the women’s code is more important and thus spend their lives lecturing various women about what to wear and what not to wear. These men need to seriously understand that disobedience to Allah is disobedience to Allah whether you are a man or a woman. Muslim men should cover themselves from the navel to the knees.
Narrated by ‘Ali (R.A): The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said: “Do not show your thigh, and do not look at the thigh of anyone, living or dead.”(Abu Dawood (3140) and Ibn Maajah:1460) The majority of fuqaha’ are of the view that these ahaadeeth should be followed and they stated that a man’s ‘awrah is from the navel to the knee. See al-Mughni, 2/284 Most of the scholars say it is authentic and a man should cover navel to knee.
Silk is haraam for males, because the Prophet (pbuh) said: “These two [gold and silk] are forbidden for the males of my ummah and permissible for the females.” Narrated by Ibn Maajah, 3640; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Ibn Maajah.
The scholars are agreed that it is haraam for men to to wear pure silk, because of the hadeeth of ‘Ali ibn Abi Taalib (R.A), who said that the Prophet (pbuh) took a piece of silk in his right hand and a piece of gold in his left, held them aloft and said: “These are haraam for the males of my ummah and permitted for the females.” (Reported by Ibn Maajah, 2/1189).
Abu Moosa (R.A) reported that the Prophet (pbuh) said: “Gold and silk have been permitted for the females of my ummah and forbidden for the males.” Indeed, a stern warning has been narrated concerning this matter, as was reported by al-Bukhaari (5853) and Muslim (2069) in the hadeeth of Ibn ‘Umar (R.A), who reported that the Prophet (pbuh) said: “Silk is only worn in this world by the one who will have no share of the pleasure of the Hereafter.” Anas (R.A) reported that the Prophet (pbuh) said: “Whoever wears silk in this world will not wear it in the Hereafter.” (Reported by al-Bukhaari, 5832).
The scholars allowed men to wear silk in certain exceptional circumstances where there is shar’i evidence to support this, such as Muslim combatants in war who are allowed to wear silk in order to show off and annoy the enemy, which is a kind of psychological warfare. People who are sick may also be permitted to wear silk to relieve their suffering, as Anas (R.A) reported that the Prophet (pbuh) allowed ‘Abd al-Rahmaan ibn ‘Awf(R.A) and Ibn al-Zubayr ((R.A) to wear silk because of a skin irritation that they suffered from. (Reported by al-Bukhaari, 10/295, and Muslim, 3/1646).
The scholars also allowed men to wear garments containing four fingers’ width of silk, because of the hadeeth of ‘Umar ibn al-Khattaab (R.A) who said that the Prophet (pbuh) forbade the wearing of silk except for an area the width of two fingers, or three or four.” (Reported by Muslim, 3/1644).
If the item that a man is going to wear is made of natural silk, then it is not permissible for him to wear it, no matter how it looks or feels, and no matter whether it is a shirt, pants, socks, a necktie or anything else.
Similarly it is not permissible to wear the skin of a dead animal (one that has died of natural causes) unless it has been tanned. With regard to wearing clothes made of wool, goat hair and camel hair, these are pure and permissible.
It is not permissible to wear thin or see-through clothing that does not conceal the ‘awrah and it is haraam to imitate the mushrikeen and kuffaar in their manner of dress, so it is not permissible to wear clothing that is unique to the kuffaar.
Narrated by ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Amr ibn al-‘Aas (R.A) said: The Prophet (pbuh) saw ‘Ali (R.A) wearing two garments dyed with safflower and said: “These are garments of the kuffaar; do not wear them.”(Muslim, 2077)
It is haraam for women to imitate men and men to imitate women in the way they dress, because the Prophet (pbuh ) cursed the men who imitate women and the women who imitate men.” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 5546).
It is Sunnah to pay attention to keeping one’s clothes clean, without feeling arrogant or exaggerating about that.
Narrated by ‘Abd-Allaah ibn Mas’ood (R.A): The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said: “No one will enter Paradise in whose heart is a mustard-seed of arrogance.” A man said: “What if a man likes his clothes to look nice and his shoes to look nice?” He said: “Allaah is Beautiful and loves beauty; arrogance means rejecting the truth and looking down on people.”(Narrated by Muslim, 91).
It is mustahabb to wear white clothes because the Prophet (pbuh) said: “Wear white clothes, for they are the best of your clothes, and shroud your dead in them.” Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 994, hasan saheeh. This is what the scholars regarded as mustahabb. Also narrated by Abu Dawood, 4061; Ibn Maajah, 1472.
It is haraam for the Muslim man to let any garment he wears hang down beneath his ankles (an action known as isbaal); the limit for any garment is the ankles.
Narrated by Abu Hurayrah (R.A) that the Prophet (pbuh) said; “Whatever of the lower garment is beneath the ankles is in the Fire.”(al-Bukhaari, 5450. )
Narrated by Abu Dharr (R.A) that the Prophet (pbuh) said: “There are three to whom Allah will not speak on the Day of Resurrection and will not look at them or praise them, and theirs will be a painful torment.” the Prophet (pbuh) repeated it three times. Abu Dharr (R.A) said: “May they be doomed and lost; who are they, O Messenger of Allaah?” He said: “The one who lets his garment hang beneath his ankles, the one who reminds others of favours he has done, and the one who sells his product by means of false oaths.” (Muslim,106)
In Islam It is haraam to wear garments of fame and vanity, which means a garment that stands out from others so that people will look at the wearer and he will become known for it.
Narrated by Ibn ‘Umar (R.A): The Prophet (pbuh) said: “Whoever wears a garment of fame and vanity, Allaah will dress him in a garment like it on the Day of Resurrection.” According to another version, “…then set it ablaze.” And according to a third version, “will dress him in a garment of humiliation.” Narrated by Abu Dawood, 4029; Ibn Maajah, 3606 and 3607; classed as hasan by Shaykh al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Targheeb, 2089.
And Allah knows best.
